My 3rd Trimester

Weeks 28 through 40 approximately | Includes months 7 through 9

Body changes by month - 3rd Trimester

Your body’s changes during month 7

  • You will likely gain around 3 to 4 pounds.

  • Your feet, ankles, and hands may swell.

  • You will feel clumsier because of the added weight to your belly.

  • You may find it harder to sleep. You will probably find it difficult to get comfortable.

  • You may get stretch marks on your belly and breasts.

Your body’s changes during month 8

  • You may gain 3 to 4 pounds.

  • You may find it hard to breathe because your baby is now pushing against your lungs.

  • You will get tired more easily.

  • You will need to urinate more frequently because your baby is also pushing against your bladder.

  • You feel stronger contractions. Call your doctor if you feel more than 5 in an hour!

  • Colostrum may leak from your breasts.

Your body’s changes in month 9

  • You will probably not gain much weight.

  • Your cervix may begin to open.

  • You will feel tired and probably very uncomfortable.

  • Your baby may drop lower in your pelvis. This will make it easier for you to breathe, but you might have to urinate even more frequently.
    You will have backaches.

  • It will be hard to eat a lot. Your baby is crowding your stomach. Eat smaller meals during the day.
